2021 Highlights
As I’m looking over my 2021 highlights I’m filled with so much gratitude. It blows me away that I get to be a part of the most joyful and wonderful moments of people’s lives but I think even more so, that these amazing people trust me (and my hubs Ricky) to capture them with these split second, never to repeated again moments. When I picked out my favorites from this year, I was drawn to the same images that I’ve always loved over the years…genuine, heartfelt, joyful, and spontaneous. You love what you love and I don’t know why, but this is what I love, ya know?
Before I close, I want to dedicate this year’s highlights to my dad, who passed away about 4 months ago. 10 years ago he excitedly handed me his “baby”, his Nikon D90, when I told him that a coworker wanted me to capture her daughter’s wedding. She liked my pictures of birds and travel on Facebook and said I was perfect for the job. HA! He bought me an external flash for the camera because he said that the pop up flash just wasn’t going to cut it (which is oh so true you guys). After that, I got bit by the photography bug, and he got me a few more lenses and kept encouraging me. He wasn’t too mad when I lost one of those lenses on a trail during a shoot, and asked me what bag I would want to make sure that I can keep my lenses safe. He was one of the most free spirited people I’ve ever known, we were always going on some kind of adventure, but then he was also deeply devoted to what mattered most to him: his family and his country. He taught me to love adventure, to push through when things got difficult, to always be laughing, to see the good in people and the world always. God gave me the best daddy and I’m so incredibly thankful for him.
