Katie + Preston || Fontainebleau State Park Engagement Session

I always want to let couples choose where they are going to shoot their engagement photos because I want their photos to meaningful and sentimental to them, but I have to admit that when they choose somewhere with lots of natural beauty, I get pretty giddy. Katie and Preston are both lovers of the outdoors, so Fontainebleau State Park was a great backdrop to capture them! We may not have trees that change color in the fall, but we had tons of Spanish moss that was glowing in the setting sun, and it was so so pretty. These two were an absolute joy to work with, so kind and fun, and they felt like lifelong friends from the get go. Their story is truly one of a kind, and they got engaged in San Francisco so I had to include it!!! Enjoy!

Preston and I met about 2.5 years ago through mutual friends. The night we met we ended up riding in the same car to a concert in Lafayette with some friends and he sat right next me. I had no clue who he was, but we got to talking and ended up hanging out the entire night. I thought to myself wow this guy is very interesting. I've got to get to know him some more. We've been inseparable ever since.

Preston is a photographer (for fun) and had already planned a trip by himself to go to San Francisco about 3 months after we started dating so he invited me to go with him. We had the time of our lives sight seeing and wandering through the hills of the city. Watching the bright red sunset overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge was one of the highlights of our trip.

***Fast forward 2 years later***.

Last week we took a vacation to Yosemite National Park. We spent the week camping and hiking and taking beautiful photos. The last 2 days of our trip we went to San Francisco because I have friend that moved there. So, one night Preston tells me he wants to go to the same spot we went to on our first trip to watch the sunset overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. (Only problem was that it was completely cloudy, foggy, and cold) So the whole time on the way there, I am complaining that it's freezing and asking "What we are doing out on this cliff overlooking a bunch of fog???" I turn around and there he is on one knee, asking me to marry him! I of course said yes, and luckily my friend was there to take a couple photos of us.
